Boat trip with kids in Mauritius: tips & activities

Going on a boat trip with children in Mauritius is a memorable experience, provided you choose the right excursion. The Southeast lagoon, around Mahébourg, is particularly suitable: calm waters, shallow depths at snorkeling spots, and the ability to adapt to the mood and fatigue of the little ones.

Activities suitable for children

Snorkeling in shallow, protected areas, observing colorful fish, traditional handline fishing, a stop at the GRSE waterfall for supervised swimming, and playtime on the beaches of Île aux Cerfs. Each stop is shortened or extended according to the children's age and wishes.

Safety on board

Life jackets suitable for all ages, a simple briefing at boarding, easy water access from the boat, and a constantly vigilant skipper. The boat is stable, fast (less tiring navigation time) and never takes more than 6 passengers: we keep an eye on everyone.

Minimum age to board?

Trips are suitable from around 3-4 years old, depending on the child and conditions. Very young children can stay on board with a parent while others snorkel. We recommend a half-day for the youngest and a full day for families with children over 6 years old.

What to pack in the family bag

Reef-safe sunscreen, hat or cap, towels, swimsuits, bottled water, and a few snacks. We provide snorkeling equipment, life jackets, drinks, and appetizers. A full meal is possible on the beach of Île aux Cerfs.
