The Mauritian southeast boasts some of the most beautiful beaches on the island—often less crowded than those in the north and west. By boat, you can access spots impossible to reach by road. Here is our selection.

Blue Bay: The turquoise lagoon of the southeast

Classified as a marine park, Blue Bay is probably the most photographed beach in the south. Translucent water, white sandy bottom, living coral just a few meters from the shore: it’s one of the most beautiful snorkeling spots on the island. Going by boat allows you to anchor above the reef without having to rent equipment on site.

Pointe d'Esny: 7 km of preserved white sand

Just north of Blue Bay, Pointe d'Esny features nearly 7 km of public beach lined with casuarina trees. On the sea side, the lagoon is protected by the reef, making it a perfect playground for swimming and traditional sailing pirogues.

Île aux Cerfs: The postcard of the eastern lagoon

The must-see. White sand, turquoise water, palm trees—the image you keep of Mauritius. You can get there by speedboat from Mahébourg by going up the eastern lagoon, with a stop at the Grande Rivière Sud-Est waterfall. The back part of the island (lagoon side) remains much calmer than the main beach.

Îlot Vacoas and Îlot Marianne: Local secrets

In the heart of the Mahébourg lagoon, several small islets are accessible only by boat. Deserted beaches, sandy bottoms, mangroves: this is where we take our clients for a lunch away from the tourist circuits.

How many beaches to see in one outing?

On a full day (8 hours), it's comfortable to visit 3 to 4 beaches with snorkeling stops. On a half-day (4 hours), we target a maximum of 2 spots to truly enjoy them. Our skippers adapt the itinerary according to the tide and wind.
